The purpose of the monthly meetings is to provide a safe environment where experiences can be exchanged, and a network of support and mutual help can be developed. This reduces feelings of isolation and helps people regain a sense of control over their lives.
Members have the opportunity to discuss living with cancer and its effects, and to identify culturally relevant solutions to practical problems caused by cancer or its treatment. The groups are open to both the person with cancer and family members and friends.
African Caribbean Support Group - meets at Paul's Cancer Support Centre on the 2nd Monday of the month from 12noon to 2.00pm.
Asian Cancer Support Group - meets at Paul's Cancer Support Centre on the last Tuesday of the month from 10.30am-12.30pm.
Both groups organise outings and lunch get-togethers on an annual basis.
